ROSERAY Gentle & Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent Tablets 2023 | Sustainable Laundry Tablets

ROSERAY Laundry Detergent Tablets: We’ve been washing our clothes over the past month with these tablets. Here is our review.

The Top Line:

NOT a buy. We absolutely loved finding ROSERAY Laundry Detergent Tablets as a mess-free option that did not use PVA/PVOH. We also loved that it is mostly recyclable paper packaging for the products. Our clothes came out clean and relatively scent-free (which we love). Unfortunately, the price is so high that can’t recommend this as a viable option.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $24 for 50 tablets or $40 for 100 tablets. There is a 5% discount for subscriptions.

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Really clean. There are only a handful of ingredients in Roseray’s Laundry detergent tablets. No PVA/PVOH since they are tablets.

  • Packaging: Paper on paper, except the tablets. The tablets were in a thin bag. We understand it is to keep the tablets dry during shipping. We don’t love this, but we get it.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Straightforward on the website. Shipping is $6.95 or free if you buy 100 tablets.

  • What’s Your Impact? Mostly paper packaging, which we like. Also, concentrated laundry tablets are a win. Traditional liquid laundry detergents are usually packaged in high density polyethylene. 68% of these bottles are not recycled and contribute to the approximately 275 metric tons of plastic waste that goes into our oceans and waterways annually. A family of 4 would typically go through 5-6 plastic jugs of laundry detergent (that can be used for 64 loads) over the course of a year.

The Good:

PVA-free/PVOH-free

No synthetic fragrance/limited scent

Phthalate-free

Paraben-free

The Bad:

Price is very high

The Experience

Context: Prior to going even greener, we have used the normal Seventh Generation (powder and liquid), Tide, and Method for all of our clothes. We have tried many new laundry pods, powders and strips/sheets, and currently fairly happy with Meliora (for powder) and their oxygen brightener powder.

  • The tablets are super easy to use but there so few in any one container.

  • We mistakenly used 1 tablet the first few times and did not see great results — using two (as recommended) gets clothes clean.

  • Leaves virtually no scent (which we love).

  • One tablet for small loads — two tablets for normal loads — go right in the drum!

  • Super easy and clean to use.

  • Dissolved completely.

The Cost

We assumed that a family of 4 will generate 7 loads of laundry a week, or 364 loads a year. We compared ROSERAY Laundry Detergent Tablets with brands like Clean People, Dropps, Earth Breeze, Sheets Laundry Club, as well as drugstore brands like Gain Powder and Tide Powder detergents.

Money Report: Yikes, Roseray Laundry Tablets are some of the most expensive laundry options out on the market.

Our Recommendation:

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
