ecoHiny Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2023 | Sustainable, Tree-Free Toilet Paper
EcoHiny Bamboo Toilet Paper: Clean bum for two weeks. Here is our review.
The Top Line:
Not a buy. Unfortunately, ecoHiny 100% Bamboo Toilet Paper is not a buy from us. The brand has its own website, but it is conveniently available on Amazon. Unfortunately, while the toilet paper is sturdy and strong, made of 100% bamboo, and dye-free/chlorine-free, there are better bamboo and recycled options on the market that are a touch softer and not as pricey.
The Breakdown:
Cost & Products: $29.99 for 12; $41.39 for 24. For those with more space, there are 36- and 48-roll sizes as well
How ‘Clean’ Is This? Pretty clean at 100% bamboo
Packaging: Cardboard box and each roll individually wrapped in recyclable paper
Purchasing & Shipping: Amaozon
What’s Your Impact? Bamboo can grow 3ft in just 24 hours; it can be harvested once a year and doesn’t need to be replanted. It also uses 30% less water than hardwood trees, gives out 35% more oxygen than trees — an acre of bamboo can fix approximately 25 metric tons of atmospheric CO2 per year.
The Good:
✔ 100% bamboo toilet paper
✔ Wrapped in recyclable paper and boxed in recyclable cardboard
✔ Totally plastic-free
✔ Pretty sturdy/strong and does not pill
✔ Chlorine-free, dye-free - ❤️
The Bad:
✗ Pricey option
The Experience
Context: We have used Scott, Seventh Generation, Cottonelle, Charmin and just about every drugstore brand that exists. Seventh Generation was our old staple until our voyage into bamboo and recycled paper options. We have tried our fair share of bamboo and recycled paper, including wrapped batch: Who Gives a Crap (bamboo), bippy, Reel, Mother Earth, and Thrive Market. Check out the latest roundup of sustainable bamboo toilet paper here. Here is our experience with ecoHiny Bamboo Toilet Paper:
Softish, definitely not Cottonelle, but it’s also not the softest bamboo TP we’ve tried.
The paper has enough structure so it’s not falling apart like gas station TP.
No shredding or pilling.
Overall, it’s just fine and reminds us of the Amazon Aware TP.
The Cost
One source suggests that the average person uses 100 rolls of toilet paper per year, so we are going to use that for cost comparison. We’ll compare mostly online brands which we’ve reviewed the past (and done a big bamboo toilet paper roundup of the best!), including Elvissmart, Go No. 2, Who Gives a Crap (recycled), PlantPaper, Better Way and Brandless. We compared ecoHiny Bamboo Toilet Paper to one drugstore brand, Quilted Northern.
Money Report: Woof. ecoHiny is a pretty pricy option when it comes to bamboo toilet paper options. Getting the 36-count option is the most affordable option from the brand but even then, it’s more expensive than many of the brands we’ve previously reviewed. The rolls are roughly medium-sized.
Our Recommendation:
