Weleda Skin Food Review 2023 | Eco-friendly, natural lotion

We tried Weleda Skin Food for a month, and here’s what we thought…

The Top Line: It is a buy! We think Weleda Skin Food is a BUY! We love the simple ingredient list and it really is a magical, thick cream that we can use on body and face. Its free of synthetic fragrances, colors, preservatives, parabens and phthalates. Ingredients include flower, fruit and root extracts, minerals and essential oils. It smells slightly herbal and altogether cozy. We love that Weleda is a Certified B corporation, and has been certified with UEBT (Union for Ethical Biotrade) and NATRUE (certified natural). This will be a mainstay in our cabinets!

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: 2.5 fl oz for $15.65

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Pretty clean! Free of synthetic fragrances, colors, preservatives, parabens and phthalates. We also like that it can be used on body and face, potentially reducing the number of products we need in the home.

  • Packaging: While the packaging does include plastic, they have partnered with Terracycle to create a recycling program with their products.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased from Amazon.

The Experience

Context: As someone with dry skin that lives in the Northeast, I am constantly lathering myself in creams and lotions.

  • The natural ingredients in this balm has a lovely, herbal cozy scent

  • Thick cream (more of a balm) that feels so soothing and hydrating

  • A little bit goes a long way, and I have started to use on my face (over serums or at-home peel) as well as on hands, and body

The Cost

We compared Weleda Skin Food with other hand creams — including those by Burt’s Bees, Public Goods, L’Occitane, Jurlique and Thames.

Money Report: Weleda Skin Food’s price point is middle of the pack. However, we find Weleda Skin Food to be much thicker and the only one we would feel comfortable with putting on our face as well as hand/body.

The Good:

Cruelty free, free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic preservatives and fragrances

Certified B Corporation, Certified by UEBT (Union for Ethical BioTrade)

Simple, clean ingredients, certified by NATRUE (naturally sourced ingredients)

The Bad:

No complaints! Only flag is that the product does use nut oils (peanut and almond).

Our Recommendation: It is a buy! We think Weleda Skin Food is a BUY! We love the simple ingredient list and it really is a magical, thick cream that we can use on body and face.
