NOICE Toothpaste Review | Gel, Refillable, Charcoal Toothpaste
The Top Line:
Probably not a recommend on NOICE Toothpaste. We like that it’s a refillable toothpaste that comes in a gel form and that the ingredients are super clean. NOICE uses licorice extract to help remineralize teeth. If you do not care for nHap or fluoride, then maybe NOICE is for you. For us, we like ingredients that re-mineralize teeth to keep them healthy (like nHap or fluoride). Lastly, like other zero waste toothpastes, this one is on the pricey side.
Update: Active ingredients of licorice extract added along with medical report.
The Breakdown:
Cost & Products: $4.95 to start and $19.80 for 4 months
How ‘Clean’ Is This? Really clean! Additionally, this toothpaste contains no fluoride and no nHap (the anti-cavity fluoride alternative). The brand uses licorice extract instead.
Packaging: The box was filled wish air packs.. and some craft paper as stuffing.. and then the bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap. 😬 The bottle itself is glass (reusable) with a plastic pump.
Good to know: Instead of nHap or Fluoride, the Noice brand opted to use Licorice extract for its prevention of cavity-causing bacteria and enamel-eroding tooth decay. We are not doctors, so please read the report here. TRR will make the note that this study was done in vitro.
Purchasing & Shipping: Really simple on the NOICE website. Shipping is free.
What’s Your Impact? No fluoride and no more plastic tubes!
The Good:
✔ Super clean ingredients
✔ Refillable/replaceable - refills come in in a glass bottle
✔ Cheaper end of the refillable/zero-waste toothpaste (still pricey!)
The Bad:
✗ Taste is a bit medicinal - like the OG cough drops
✗ No re-mineralizing ingredients like fluoride or nHAP
✗ Pricey to go zero waste
✗ Comes in a glass bottle every time! It’s heavy to ship
The Experience
Context: We have been on the hunt for a zero waste toothpaste! We recently reviewed Bite as well as Chomp, which offers a complete dental set. NOICE toothpaste is the first zero-waste toothpaste that we’ve tried that is gel based and comes with a refillable glass bottle.
The pump works well, just like any serum we’ve used.
The gel is a little more viscous than the normal gel toothpaste.
Flavor is menthol but it’s a bit more .. cough medicine (not our favorite, but it’s not offensive).
There is no official anticavity ingredient such as nHap or fluoride
The Cost
We compared the cost of the refillable NOICE Toothpaste to both tablets that we’ve tried as well as the standard drugstore brands like Colgate, Crest, and Tom’s of Maine.
Money Report: When comparing to other zero-waste toothpaste, NOICE toothpaste is not bad! Sadly, most zero-waste toothpaste is just really expensive to the drugstore counterpart, but NOICE is the best of the bunch.
