Eco-me Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner Review | Green Toilet Bowl Cleaner

The Top Line:

MAYBE buy. With so few ingredients, and none of them being toxic, we really love the earth-friendly Eco-Me Toilet Bowl cleaner. It cleans really well and has just a faint mint scent. The drawbacks are that it costs a bit more than other available toilet bowl cleaners, and to us, we think the bottle could be reformed into the traditional toilet bowl cleaner bottle.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $8.99 on Amazon for 32oz. and $6.99 on the Eco-Me website (plus shipping).

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Pretty darn clean - very limited ingredients and none appear to be an issue.

  • Packaging: Amazon packaging, so just a bag for safety. Given that this is NOT concentrated that you would dilute at home NOT powder like the Seventh Generation, it is still in a plastic bottle, similar to typical toilet bowl cleaners.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Our purchase was on Amazon

  • Good to Know: Eco-Me has a whole line of other products that are eco-friendly and limited ingredients

  • What’s Your Impact? Standard toilet bowl cleaners are highly toxic, full of bad ingredients for the environment. Eco-Me’s Toilet Bowl Cleaner has so few ingredients to begin with — and all of them appear to be eco-friendly!

The Good:

Handful of ingredients - none of which are a concern

Very light, mint scent

Cleans the bowl

The Bad:

A little pricey versus other options

Wish the bottle was more traditional/a little easier to hold

The Experience

Context: We’ve tried Seventh Generation Toilet Bowl Cleaner Powder as well as their liquid versions (which was our previous staple). This is how we used Eco-Me’s Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

  • The bottle is pretty big and a little awkward to hold

  • The gel comes out easily once it’s squeezed, but we do miss the bottles with angled toilet bowl cleaners

  • The gel doesn’t smell offensive - it does actually smell minty

  • Cleans the bowl right up!

The Cost

We compared the cost of Eco-Me Toilet bowl cleaner to the likes of Seventh Generation, Method, Clorox, and Mrs. Meyers’s toilet bowl cleaners.

*We assumed that each ounce of powder toilet cleaner is equivalent to 2 ounces of liquid toilet bowl cleaner.

*We assumed that each ounce of powder toilet cleaner is equivalent to 2 ounces of liquid toilet bowl cleaner

Money Report: Not great. Eco-Me toilet bowl cleaner is on the higher end of the range when it comes to cost. The good news is that the switch is only a few bucks.
